Should Heatilator fireplace doors be opened or closed while the fire is burning?

Open.  Burning a fire in a Heatilator zero clearance firebox with closed doors could reach a temperature approaching 10,000 degrees and fires can eventually start at temps as low as 200 degrees and cause closed doors shatter. Tempered glass is not meant to withstand temperatures that high.

How do I make sure I order the right size Heatilator fireplace doors?
